Blog Journal 2
As a student, I have had many interactions with Microsoft
Word. As a student in college, MS Word is something that I am constantly using
to take notes on. In high school, I would use MS Word to create study guides for
my quizzes and exams. I have seen my teachers use Word to create study guides, flyers,
and provide more information about different topics. MS Word is something that
myself, and teachers, use in their everyday life throughout their school year.
I remember learning about copyright in my business class in
high school. I have added photos from the internet to papers and PowerPoints,
added music to presentations, and created videos using a mix of music and
photos. As a teacher, I think it is important to have outside resources to be
able to use in the classroom. I think it is great to use create your own
materials, but sometimes the copyrighted materials are a necessary resource to
have. I also think it is great to have students create their own works because
they learn more in the process of creating. Sometimes it is also important to
have students teach their peers because they can learn a lot from one
another.
Two technology implementation issues that I want to present
a solution to are decreased productivity and lack of funding. I personally
suffer from decreased productivity when I am using technology. I get distracted
by YouTube, social media, tv/movie streaming websites, etc. I think a way to solve this problem is to have
the school or school district have those types of websites blocked to students,
and only have academic resources available to students. This will lessen the
distracted and decreased productivity that students may face. Another issue is the lack of funding. I believe that all classrooms should have at least access to a
computer and a projector screen. This provides the teacher with more resources
to educate their students. A solution to the lack of funding could be through
different forms of donations, school district fundraisers, and other types of
events to help find money to support the students in the classroom. Part of the
issue may pertain to students outside of the classroom not having access to a
computer or the internet. If this is the case, there should be a designated
class period where a student can have access to the internet and other
resources to complete their school work or other tools they may need to be
successful.
